The Setup (J Blog 1)
Author: Julian Voros
We have started the initial setup for our game Blind Spot, and we were experiencing a drought in finding assets we could use/ wanted for our different pitches. We had started with 3 amazing pitches and from professor feedback and a team decision we went with a roguelike game. The main problems we encountered with the other ideas were they were too large scale, things we either couldn't accomplish in the time allotted or the aesthetic we wanted would have taken too long to create. Due to these concerns, we had to choose a game that fit the scale and would be doable in 3 months. This meant we couldn't waste time rigging assets, or get too caught up in the details.
As a team to fix this issue, we had a meeting and weighed the pros and cons from the pitches we gave, and the feedback received on them. From our analysis we selected to go in the direction of Blind Spot, and have now actively been finding assets, sounds, and other tools to help us develop this game into what we want. Now that we have this clear direction, our picture of this game is getting more and more clear and becoming a lot more tangible. We are excited to work on this game even more and go on the adventure that is making a game.
